Privacy
The short version
DoesItLast has no accounts and sets no cookies. It counts how many times each page is opened, and nothing about who opened it. What you put in your kitchen stays in your browser β we never receive it and could not read it if we wanted to. The only information you can send us is a message you decide to type into the contact form.
On your device
What the app remembers
The app keeps a few things in your browser's local storage so it still knows them when you come back:
- The foods in your kitchen β their names, dates, storage locations, and any use-by date you set yourself
- Your shopping list
- Your last few searches, stored as database ids rather than text
- Your language, your light or dark preference, and how you like the kitchen sorted
Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to a request, so none of it is transmitted anywhere. It is readable only by this site, on this browser, on this device. Clearing site data for doesitlast.com erases all of it, and there is no copy for us to keep β the app has no server that could hold one.
The app also keeps a copy of its own pages, styles and food data on your device so it still works with no connection β useful in a kitchen, where signal usually isn't. That cache holds only files this site served you; it contains nothing about you, and it goes when you clear site data too.
What we donβt do
| Accounts | None |
| Cookies | None |
| Analytics | Page counts only, no cookies |
| Ads or profiling | None |
| Data sold or shared | None |
This site used to load Google Analytics on every page, which set a cookie and sent your address to Google, while the About page claimed there was no tracking. That is gone. What counts pages now is Vercel Web Analytics: it sets nothing on your device, records no identifier, and is served from this domain rather than someone else's, so no request leaves for a third party. It can tell us that a page was opened. It cannot tell us that you opened it, or that you opened another one afterwards.

What your browser contacts
Loading a page here contacts exactly one thing: this site. Pages, styles, fonts and the Spanish dictionary all come from doesitlast.com. Fonts used to be fetched from Google, which meant your address reached them on every visit; they are served from here now.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web server, theirs records requests as it serves them β the address they came from, the time, the page and the browser. Those logs exist so the site can run and be defended from abuse; we do not use them to build any picture of you, and they are the only record of your visit that exists anywhere.
Some links lead elsewhere β the FDA and USDA pages our figures come from; a tip jar; a couple of social accounts. Nothing is requested from any of them until you click, and once you are there you are on their terms, not ours.
The one exception
The contact form
The form on the About page is the only place where anything you type is sent anywhere. It is delivered by Formspree, which passes the message to our inbox and keeps a copy in that account. Name and email are optional β leave them blank and we simply cannot reply. Please don't put anything sensitive in the message; it is an inbox, not a secure channel.
Reminders
Alerts and calendar files
If you allow notifications, the page raises them itself while DoesItLast is open in a tab. There is deliberately no web push: real push would need a server holding a key and a copy of everyone's fridge contents, which is exactly the thing this app is built not to have.
The calendar file is written in your browser and downloaded to your device. Where it goes after that β which calendar you import it into, and who that provider is β is between you and them.
Your rights
Rules like the GDPR give you the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal data a site holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to request: everything the app knows is already on your device, under your control, and deleting it is a matter of clearing this site's data in your browser. If you have written to us, that message is in our inbox and we will delete it on request.
This site is not aimed at children, and since it collects nothing, it collects nothing about them either.
Changes and questions
If any of this changes β a new third-party service, anything that would collect more than nothing β it will be described here before it ships, and the date below will change with it.
Questions are welcome at hello@doesitlast.com, or through the form on the About page.
